Saturday the clouds broke and the humidity lifted and I took advantage of the good fortune. I packed up Tucker filled some water bottles for him and myself grabbed the camera and off I went. My destination was Stone Mountain NC. The great thing about living in Elkin NC is you are close to some great parks.
Pretty amazing.
You can climb rocks there too. I am not thrilled with heights so I pass on this activity. But check out these people having some fun.

I did a quick search for homes in Elkin NC online and found there is nothing in this price range available. The houses in this location are either much more (yet you are getting almost the same house) or a few thousand less (foreclosed or soon to be). Where ever I have lived and no matter what I may think of the area I am always respectful and kind to others. Yesterday I went food shopping. I had a few moments while the paint on a custom box dried and headed over to the neighborhood Food Lion.
Great place and newly re-done inside but I digress. As I was checking out the woman ahead of me (older than myself) was unloading her cart. I instinctively could sense she was having some difficulty. The checker kept piling the filled bags on the counter so I asked if it would be OK for me to load her cart? She stared at me dumbfounded as her brain tried to catch up. She smiled and agreed. I loaded her cart, said our thank you’s and off she went.
Now why would I do this? I believe kindness is never wasted and it is like a cold easily spread. People need showing it is OK. I thought of my mom when she would head off to the market with sore arthritic hands and wondered if someone was kind to her when I was not there to help? If there was I just paid it forward for them.
I am selling my home and I am not going to be back in the area again. I like to think I helped this wonderful little town with my random acts of kindness though I will never be sure.
